This is the first museum devoted entirely to amber from the Dominican Republic, and has one of the best collections of this mineral non-metalliferous at the global level , for this reason has become one of the strongest and most popular tourist attractions of Puerto Plata, and he consolidated his fame not only among international tourist guides scientists but also among scholars of the subject, as entomologists, paleontologists, botanists and geologists, among others.

Ada Benelli Costa explained to us, in her book “Gotas de Ambar” (Amber Drops), that the amber is very important to protect and conserve unaltered the basic factos of the molecule: nucleonic acid, proteins, amino acids and alkaloids, DNA; that is, that this museum will open to visitors a window into the prehistoric world.
